Welcome to the School of International Relations and Public Affairs (SIRPA) at Fudan University!
The School of International Relations and Public Affairs (SIRPA) at Fudan University has its roots in the Department of Political Science established in 1923. The Department of International Politics was subsequently established in 1964, making it one of the first three departments in this field in China. Since the 1980s, there has been rapid development in the fields of International Politics, Political Science, and Public Administration. In 2000, the Department of International Politics underwent a restructuring and evolved into the School of International Relations and Public Affairs (SIRPA), which comprised the Department of International Politics, the Department of Political Science, the Department of Public Administration, and the Department of Diplomacy. Over its nearly century-long history, the School has achieved significant milestones, boasting two national A-level disciplines as part of the "double world-class project": Political Science (A+) and Public Administration (A). As of 2022, the School has also added a first-level discipline in National Security Studies.
The School, guided by the principle of "Education with Integrity, for the Nation," fosters a positive and innovative culture. Aided by its top-tier faculty, professional teaching, and international outreach, it has developed a unique educational ecosystem. Committed to "Academic Excellence and Innovation," the political science discipline at Fudan University has grown into a comprehensive system, encompassing departments, research centers, institutes, innovation bases, think tanks, and academies. The collaborative efforts within and across the disciplines has further created a synergistic academic environment, resulting in a growing number of academic achievements. Over the course of the past century, the School has produced influential figures and contributed significantly to the field of political science. The motto "Excellence for Public" serves as the driving force for the School's collective efforts.
As the new century begins, the School embarks on a new historical journey with an aspiration to establish a world-class political science discipline, which carries the mission for national prosperity and global peace. While contributing to the modernization of the national governance, China's distinctive diplomacy, and the construction of a global governance system, the School is dedicated to top-tier research and education, and will tirelessly strive for long-lasting achievements so as to secure a place in the global political knowledge science landscape.
