2025 Shanghai Summer School: Comparative Governance Program for Neighboring Countries

2025 Shanghai Summer School: Comparative Governance Program for Neighboring Countries is supported by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, guided by the Office of International Student Affairs at Fudan University, and organized by the School of International Relations and Public Affairs at Fudan University. The School of International Relations and Public Affairs at Fudan University (abbreviated as “Fudan SIPA”) launched the inaugural Advanced Training Program for Young Diplomatic Talents from Belt and Road Countries in July 2017. Renamed as 2025 Shanghai Summer School: Comparative Governance Program for Neighboring Countries in 2025, it has now completed eight sessions, enrolling a total of 112 participants from 43 Belt and Road countries. The Belt and Road Advanced Training Program serves as a key initiative by the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, Municipal Government, and Municipal Education Commission to implement China's “going global” strategy. Its core objectives are to strengthen exchanges and friendships between young diplomats and civil society elites from Belt and Road countries and their counterparts in China, while enhancing these young talents' understanding and engagement with China's national development strategy and Shanghai's vision for building a global city.

The program offers 11 specialized courses covering topics such as global governance and cooperation, China's governance practices and experiences, regional cooperation and international relations, fiscal and climate governance, and comparative governance models between China and other nations. Participants also receive foundational Chinese language instruction, enabling them to deepen their understanding of Chinese culture and global civilizational diversity from multiple perspectives and dimensions.
